Trails> Monte Subasio, Assisi and the Francescan trail: 

Mortars path of Assisi – Spello (path n. 50)

This panoramic trail connects Spello to Assisi passing through the Hermitage, Sasso plan and karst sinkholes.

Franciscan path Assisi – Nocera Umbra (path n. 51)

Distance: 20 km

This trail, which runs through places of great natural, covers long stretches of the journey of St. Francis in Assisi fell dying from Nocera Umbra.

Collepino – Monte Subasio (path n. 52)

Path of St. John I – Montarone (path 53)

The trail crosses the Mount Subasio towards the South-East and leads to the village of San Giovanni in the municipality of Spello. This path is called “Path of Fossi” because it passes through the 10 main ditches that cross the eastern slope of Mount Subasio.

The trail runs along the walls of the Hermitage of the Prisons, continues along the western slope of Mount Subasio through the Lecceta Sasso Rosso and reaching Source Bregno.

Armenzano – Monte Subasio (path n. 55)

The trail runs along the old sheep track that the inhabitants of Armenzano used to transfer the flocks on pasture summit from Subasio and below the maximum slope.

Abbey of St. Benedict – The Lake (path n. 56)

Difficulty: Easy

The path joins the Romanesque abbey of St. Benedict with Lake Karst of Spella through the ilex of Sasso Rosso, the church of Sant ‘Antonio in Seagull Old and Fosso Renaro. The TRAILS can be traveled even in the warmer months because it runs almost completely in the shade of the woods.

Monte Civitelle – Valtopina (path n. 57)

The trail starts from the pastures summit Subasio and reach the railway station of Valtopina passing through San Giovanni Collepino, the mill Valentino and ditch Anna.

This short hiking trail joins the village of San Giovanni Collepino with the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Spella meadows summit of the southern slope of Mount Subasio.

The trail connects the village of Costa Trex in the town of Assisi with the shelter Mortaro. Through hardwood forests, conifer reforestation and grassland summit.
